Chantal + Anton / Dominion Arboretum Wedding

I was so excited when my friend Chantal asked me to photograph her wedding last year. I was starting my business, and I was really thrilled that she trusted me enough as a photographer to document her and Anton’s special day. It was all in an interesting twist of fate because it was only a couple of months after signing the wedding contract that I was assigned to a nutrition internship with her as a part of my university requirements. Needless to say, during my internship with Chantal lunch breaks were spent discussing the dress, the dinner and of course the photos.

In the blink of an eye the big day had already arrived. Chantal and Anton had a traditional Ukrainian ceremony, as Anton is originally from the Ukraine.  The air was hot and the skies were sunny. But most importantly, I could feel so much love coming from these two as Chantal walked down the aisle.

After the ceremony, we headed out to the dominion arboretum and took photos with willow trees and fleeting ravines in the background. The wedding party was in for some playful portraits, and so were Chantal and Anton. I truly admired their ability to be themselves in front of the camera and just have fun.

The dinner and reception was held at Lago on Dow’s Lake. The setting was intimate, and it felt as though everyone had known each other for a long time. Some great speeches, teary slideshows and traditional dancing later, it was off to the races for these two as they would be jet setting to  Italy the next morning for their honeymoon!

Thanks Chantal and Anton for including me in your day. I felt so privileged to a part of such a special celebration. This honour is never something that I take lightly.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! You did an incredible job and it was so nice to have your positive energy with us throughout the day 🙂 I’m so glad we got to bond during your internship too, I think that made feeling comfortable in front of the camera so much easier for me 🙂 Thanks for documenting this special day and giving us photos we can look back on in the years to come to remember all the special moments <3
