Before this day I hadn’t met Sami and Dan, but I had heard many great stories from Sami’s mom about how they had met while Sami was studying in the UK. They didn’t meet in the classroom, nor was it at a bar. The campus juggling club that they met. For some, this may seem like an unusual place to meet, but let me tell you, their juggling skills made for some great entertainment later that evening.
I truly admire those who chose to leave the comforts of home to go explore something new and to see what the world has to teach us. Moving and studying abroad comes with its set of challenges, but marrying a man from overseas is a whole other level of sacrifice and love.
I saw this patience, and this kind of love in Sami and Dan as I followed their every move. Dan’s eye’s lit up so brightly when he first saw his pink haired bride walk down the isle, and from there they stayed lit up all day and night. It is no doubt that these two are madly in love.
There was never a dull moment during the reception as a Danish relative made us giggle, Dan’s brother’s poetry made us laugh really hard, and Sami and Dan’s juggling show was entertaining to say the least. Beyond the many performances was true love, and this love came though in happy tears and smiles, and of course tearing it up on the dance floor.
Congratulations Sami & Dan, I wish you all the best with settling together in the UK. Remember that distance is just a test to see how far love can travel. Thanks for showing me that!
